So, sometimes your sources are wrong and relying them we tend to go wrong. Thats all to it.
However, iam of the view that we should believe all the sources both negative and positive and then make your educated guesees.

We recently filed AR-11 for which we also recieved receipts from USCIS to my new Address. What would this mean. Is it that they are trying to send a new copy of I-485 receipts again...

My wife's EAD has not yet been approved. It has been 92 days since the receive date. We had an infopass appointment today. I did not apply for EAD.
The officer we met with mentioned that the EAD is issued only after the biometrics are done. I highly doubt this is the norm. Our FP is scheduled for Nov 21st. he said that the service center will electronically send the photo/fp to nebraska. Only then can I expect to see any movement on the EAD application.
I have heard that your FP/biometrics does not have anything to with EAD. However, this officer gave us information that is totally contrary to what we have seen in recent times. He mentioned that this is the latest procedure. He suggested that we should schedule another infopass appointment only If we do not get the EAD 3-4 weeks after the biometrics.
Any inputs from people with similar experience?

we actually have our i-140 pending (its been 2 months since filling) and also when we filed the tax return they gave a number similar to ssn. with this as my legal status can i ask for a social security number..?

use 1040-nr-ez...paper file it and get more...
if i am not mistaken.. you can claim rental expenses as deductions if u are on ur first year of H1(only the 1st year)...also since u moved from chi to cin.. you can also claim..job related relocation expense..blah blah..do if u do itemized decuations..u shoudl be able to get truckload of money..... so seek a desi tax guy..

Can you please confirm from your lawyer , if the A# shows up only if your 140 is approved or do you get one as soon as you have the receipt number . President Obama has a lot on his plate dealing with the economy, health and energy but his approach to immigration reform indicates a clear grasp of the complex dynamic needed to win the battle. Immigration raids in our communities and our factories, along with the horrific conditions of detention, have created dread and anxiety within our immigrant population. The process of obtaining lawful status has become unreasonably difficult, and there are few options for the millions of immigrants, many of whom have deep roots here, but entered without visas or have expired visas. Millions of these people have U.S. citizen spouses and children, but no path to legalization. Despite decades of living in the U.S., and contributing to our economy, and whether applying for immigrant or nonimmigrant visas, the pattern is the same: restrictive adjudications coupled with outdated visa quotas that choke the system and make the attainment of lawful status virtually impossible. Whether applying through family or employment, the waiting lines are as protracted as they are preposterous. Immigrants serve important roles in the success of the nation�s economy in boardrooms and corn fields, in Silicon Valley and the San Fernando Valley. Demographic trends show that an aging United States will need more workers across all occupation levels. Employment-based immigration and family-based immigration complement each other and should not be pitted against one another in a zero-sum game. Target levels should be adjusted to acknowledge that immigration is an engine of economic dynamism and to ensure that close families are not separated for years by outdated limitations. The United States must embrace the inevitable shift toward a well-regulated, legal, global labor market in order to retain our economic leadership.

The U.S. Border Patrol�s annual budget has more than quintupled since 1993 while the number of undocumented immigrants in the United States has tripled to approximately 12 million during that same time period. Militarization of the border has obviously failed as an immigration control strategy.

EB2 - 140 at NSC moved by 5-6 days only and shows date of July 19.2006. Mine is July 27 2006. Don't know how many months more to move to July 27, 2006.

Can someone advise on this. My 6 yrs of H1 expires in Jan 2008. Employer says they will only apply 90 days prior to H1-b expiration.
They already applied my 485 and AP.
What should I be doing?
1. Can I apply EAD myself?
yes, once you have the I-485 receipt. You dont need anything from your employer for filing EAD.
2. will I get in trouble if I do not have EAD and my H1 expires?
status-wise you will be ok since your status will be 485-pending. However you will need to stop working if they have not applied for your H1 extension by the last day of your current H1 (ie. by Jan 2008). They can apply for your H1 extension even on the last day of your current H1s expiry and you can then continue working for upto 240 days after expiry of your current H1 while waiting for approval of that extension request. Filing 90 days in advance is ok, if you are paranoid ask them to do in premium processing when they file it (offering to pay the $1000) if that makes you more comfortable.
Not sure why you want an early H1 extension filing...
3. Can I move to new employer using AC21 without EAD?
yup. You can transfer H1 and invoke AC21. In fact that is recommended (try to maintain your H1 status while your 485 is pending so if you get a denial you atleast have some status to work out your next move.
